Fourth Assignment

The first element from my text that is important is a glass of water, its a symbol but i think it might also be a metaphor. In the book, the narrators dying father so far has asked for a glass of water twice because hes just always thirsty for it. I think its just a hint/metaphor to the title of the book so far...
Antoher element is the fact that theres an empty pool right outside of Edward Blooms (the dying father) window. I havent figured out the meaning yet, but i do know that the title, a thirsty dying man, a glass of water and an empty pool the old man can see will probably have ALOT to do with the project of my book.
A 3rd element would have to be just the title in general. Its a metaphor, symbol and an allegory. But, probably wont know this elements job until the end of the book. I know this because of the movie... but books can be different. And i do not know the project of my book...yet.

Third Assignment

The story in my book i think is very original and new. I haven't really came across anything that sounded familiar or made me think of another book that i've read. Its original because it really keeps my attention... if it sounded familiar i would already know what was going to happen next. The plot and idea of the story is also something you never really hear of? The title Big Fish doesnt exactly mean that the book is about a big fish. All my book is, is a bunch of original different stories that create one. I don't really think a writer in this day and age can make a completely new story. Just because everything's pretty much already been written about. Most books are there to teach you a lesson, or expand your knowledge of something. But a writer can write a completely new idea.

Secong Assignment- Character

I had to change my book because i couldn't find mine anywhere... and i didn't feel like buying it. I changed it to Big Fish by Daniel Wallace, i've seen the movie so i just wanted to know if it was the same thing?!

1. I think the main character of my book is William. He's the narrator of the story and the son of the main character in his stories. The kind of person he is, isn't very imaginative at all, as hes telling all these stories that his father told him, i'm getting into them, but at the same time, hes telling these stories with disbelief. Don't get me wrong the stories are a little over-dramatic and are exagerated a little bit but there so interesting. William just cant use his imagination for his fathers sake.
2.If i had to compare myself to a character in the book, it would be the main one. Were both alike because we listen to mythical stories and think to ourselves, that duh this wouldn't happen in real life, but were different because i know how to use my imagination when i want to...this book for example makes me use my imagination, otherwise i wouldn't like it.
3.As the main character is see my father as being a person that cant be truthful to me, and as someone whom i cant relate to. I also see it it myself that i could have tried harder to get to know my dad, now that he is on his death bed. I smell a hospital in my mothers own home... and i feel that i don't have enough time

First Assignment

I chose to read One Lonely Night by Mickey Spillane, not for any special reason i just like to be spontaneous:) Its about this guy who witnesses a suicide, and finds out secrets about some communists and the government, but while keeping to the government safe, he rats out the communists. it seems pretty intense.
